Eleven Pure Industrial buildings in Quebec recognized with BOMA BEST certifications
Pure Industrial (“Pure”) was recently honoured with eleven BOMA BEST certifications, demonstrating the Pure commitment to continuously building environmental stewardship and operational excellence across its extensive portfolio.
BOMA BEST is one of North America’s largest sustainable building certification programs for existing buildings. The voluntary awards program is managed by the Building Owners and Managers Association of Canada (BOMA Canada) and six key areas of performance form the certification criteria covering energy, water, waste, air quality, accessibility and resiliency. A certification through this program demonstrates a company’s commitment to high-performing and environmentally responsible spaces.
Pure’s eleven light industrial properties in Quebec recognized under the sustainability building portfolio stream cover 1.6 million square feet of total space. Some of the sustainability initiatives as part of Pure’s submission includes:
- Energy and carbon audits tailored to each property are shared with customers to raise awareness of energy performance and carbon reductions. These reports are complemented by ongoing water assessments and indoor air quality communication plans for customers.
- Capital planning that prioritizes energy optimization and building performance, such as air source heat pumps and building envelope upgrades.
- Leveraging lease transition opportunities to assess and upgrade lighting, thermostats and HVAC systems without customer disruptions.
- Property manager training to broaden awareness of energy and carbon management on-site as well as climate resiliency.
- Supporting customer needs through electronic communication to reduce paper waste, customer service programs to address customer concerns and accessibility checks to ensure buildings are inclusive and comfortable.
“At Pure Industrial, we believe that sustainability is a fundamental aspect of long-term value creation,” said David Owen, President and Chief Operating Officer of Pure. “We are committed to providing our customers with high-performing, environmentally responsible spaces, and these certifications are a testament to our ongoing investment in innovation and operational excellence.”
“Sustainability is a comprehensive effort across a building’s design, energy performance and day-to-day customer operations. Recognition from BOMA is an honour and an opportunity to showcase Pure’s work and collaboration across our teams to ensure we are on the right track,” said Lori Hipwell, Director, Energy and Sustainability.
This year’s BOMA BEST certifications affirms the collective efforts of Pure’s sustainability, property management, construction and development, and operations teams, who work together to embed sustainability into daily operations and create high-performance spaces for our customers across Canada.
