Pure Industrial releases 2025 sustainability report highlighting progress in operational performance and sustainability achievements
Pure Industrial (“Pure”), one of Canada’s leading providers of industrial real estate, is proud to share the release of its 2025 Sustainability Report. This comprehensive report details Pure’s ongoing commitment to environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles, celebrating substantial progress and guiding vision that defines its path to a sustainable future.
Building sustainable and resilient operations is central to how Pure operates. This year’s report demonstrates practical progress achieved through systematic, building-level upgrades. By focusing on smart technologies, energy-efficient retrofits, and collaborative tenant programs, Pure continues to enhance the long-term performance and climate resilience of its 43M sf portfolio.
Message from Pure’s leadership:
“2025 marked a defining year in embedding sustainability across our business to drive value, and we are proud to see our long-term strategy translate into scaled, real-world results,” said Hitesh Mistry, Head of Canada, Pure Industrial. “These achievements are a direct testament to what we can accomplish in close partnership with our customers and with strong collaboration across our teams. By designing, constructing, and managing our assets responsibly, we continue to support our customers’ evolving needs and build a resilient, future-ready industrial platform.”
“Our approach to decarbonization and resource management is rooted in practical steps towards reducing our GHG value chain emissions,” said Andrée Lemay-Roux, Senior Vice President, Legal, Risk and Compliance, Pure Industrial. “Whether it is replacing end-of-life equipment with electrified solutions or deploying smart monitoring technologies, these upgrades are designed to proactively reduce operating costs, mitigate environmental , and ensure our facilities perform efficiently for years to come.”
2025 Key Highlights:
- Replaced end-of-life gas-fired heating systems with high-efficiency air-source heat pumps, contributing to a portfolio reduction of approximately 500 tCO₂e to date.
- Advanced green building certifications to cover over 3.5M sf of the portfolio under LEED or BOMA BEST standards.
- Expanded green lease clauses to cover over 85 per cent of the portfolio’s Gross Leasable Area (GLA), earning continued recognition as a Gold Green Lease Leader.
- Equipped approximately 80 per cent of properties with smart, remote-monitored water meters. In 2025, early leak detection avoided the loss of over 115,000 cubic meters of water, saving customers more than $175,000 in utility costs.
- Formalized a new Volunteer and Colleague Giving Policy, while raising over 19,000 meals through holiday food drives and donating more than 3,000 meals via urban farming partnerships with Microhabitat.
Future Goals:
Pure is continuing to chart a progressive course in its sustainability strategy with a focus on long-term asset resilience. With decarbonization pathways now defined, the team is focused on executing its transition plans and deepening its understanding of Scope 3 value chain emissions.
Moving forward, scaling portfolio-wide electrification remains a priority. Replacing end-of-life gas-fired units with efficient electric alternatives and leveraging a smart water monitoring framework will continue to drive deep resource efficiency and cost savings for customers.
